EXCELLENT TURNOUT AT ENERSOLAR+ BRASIL 2012, WHICH ENDS TODAY
Press release no. 130/12
13/07/2012

The first edition of the event dedicated to solar energy is drawing to a close with highly positive results, confirming the great potential of the Brazilian market, in which increasing numbers of companies are investing.

San Paolo, 13 July 2012 - EnerSolar+ Brasil, the first international fair for the photovoltaic, thermal and CSP solar energy industry, ends today in San Paolo. During these first two days of the event, which is taking place concurrently with Greenergy Expo Brasil - the international fair dedicated to biogas, cogeneration, geothermal and hydro-electric energy, biofuels, and waste treatment - has had an excellent turnout of visitors, to the great satisfaction of exhibitors.

At yesterday’s conference session at EnerSolar+ Brasil, the presentation of Gabriela da Rocha Oliveira, head of analysis and research in Latin America for Bloomberg New Energy Finance, attracted considerable interest, highlighting the important potential of Brazil in renewable energies, destined to grow considerably in the next few years.

The presentation of Luiz Fernando Viana of Apine, the Brazilian Association of Independent Producers of Energy, discussed the Ten-year Plan for Energy 2011-2020. The Plan foresees an important increase in the consumption of energy, which will go from 237.7 million TOE (tonnes of oil equivalent) in 2010 to 372 million in 2020, with a 5.3% annual growth. The federal government has therefore decided, in these ten years, to invest the equivalent of EUR 450 billion in the development of the energy sector, with about EUR 200 billion to finance renewable energy projects. Biofuels, a sector in which Brazil is one of the most important worldwide producers, and which offers further important growth margins, will have an important role.

The outlooks for photovoltaics in Brazil were the topic of the presentation by Leonidas Bispo Andrade, business and marketing manager of DuPont Brazil, while Paulo Frugis, from Unitron, spoke mainly about grid-connected solar energy.

Today’s speakers include Rafael Valverde, representative of the State of Bahia, who will discuss the investment possibilities in renewable energies in this area of Brazil, and Gerson Sampaio, managing director of Teknergy, who will speak about the opportunities that can be created by these new energy sources.

"We are very pleased with these first two days of the event," said Marco Pinetti, president of Artenergy Publishing. "A preliminary analysis of the results we have to date confirm that EnerSolar+ Brasil will grow hand in hand with this continuously developing market".
